Types of Roofs
- Asphalt: 3-tab shingles, Dimensional shingles, Luxury shingles
- Tile Roofs (Clay/Concrete)
- Modified Bitumen
- Metal Roofing
- Thermoplastic Polyolefin “TPO” Roofing
Asphalt Roofing (3 main types of asphalt shingles):
- 3-tab shingles (aka: “the old ones that look like tiles”)
- Dimensional shingles (aka: architectural or laminate shingles)
- Luxury shingles (aka: premium shingles)
3-tab shingles
Affordability meets functionality…One-piece, single-layer 3-tab asphalt shingles are the most basic and economical asphalt shingle on the market. 3-tab shingles are made from durable fiberglass base mat coated with mineral granules, giving each piece varying color tones.
The day of the 3-tab shingle, however, is passing if not gone! You’ll most commonly find 3-tab shingles on new economy homes or older houses that were built when 3-tab shingle roofs were still a popular option.
Dimensional shingles (Architectural)
Dimensional shingles are made of two or more layers of shingles. Multi-layered shingles are extra durable, allowing them to be used in stronger warranties for homeowners and building owners like you. Most dimensional shingles on the market are warrantied as Limited Lifetime, manufacturer warranty scope of material and labor (if using a manufacturer qualified contractor) will vary depending on the installation and specific shingles chosen.
Luxury shingles
Luxury shingles have extra layers that bring extra weight. In fact, they can weigh twice as much per square as basic 3-tab shingles. The advantage of that extra weight? Extra strength against tears and impact. This is beneficial if you live in a tornado, HURRICANE or hail-prone region.
Luxury shingles are designed to replicate natural slate and cedar shake roofs at a fraction of the cost. Shakes and slate are expensive to purchase, and extremely laborious to install. A slate roof may cost as much as 10 times that of architectural laminate shingles. Unless your last name is Gates or Buffet, that’s a price difference that’s quite significant.
Luxury asphalt shingles are a great roofing alternative for period-style homes that look best with slate- or shake-style roofs. The multi-dimensional texture of luxury shingles creates shadows and depths that look just like real shakes or slate.

Tile Roofs (Clay/Concrete)
Brief History:
Roofing tiles have deep historical roots throughout multiple regions across the globe. From China to Europe especially the Eastern Mediterranean, including Mainland Greece, Western Asia Minor, and Southern and Central Italy; tile roofing was used by some of our earliest advanced civilizations to protect themselves from the elements.
Tile roofing arrived in the U.S. with European immigrants on the East Coast in the 1600’s and the West Coast in the 1700’s. Clay tiles were molded by hand until about 1870 and concrete tiles until the 1920’s, when they began being manufactured by machine extrusion.
Clay and concrete roofing tiles are categorized by their general shapes. The two basic tile types are; rounded pan tiles and flat tiles. Pan tiles include the familiar “Florida Style” barrel (or Mission) tiles, and Spanish tiles. Flat tiles are referred to as slab, shingle, book, or “French”. Both pan and flat tiles can overlap or interlock when applied, depending on how they are designed.
Why a Tile roof?
APPEARANCE
There is not an asphalt shingle or metal roofing product on the market that can match the superior aesthetics of clay and concrete roof tile. The numerous styles, hundreds of colors, and variety of finishes available with roof tile systems allow you to create a roof to suit virtually any architectural style or one that is entirely unique.
PERFORMANCE
Clay roof tile has been used for centuries worldwide and for good reason. Both clay roof tile and its modern partner, concrete, are not only beautiful but also extremely durable. With proper building design and qualified installation, tile roofs can last 50 to 100 years or more. They do not rot in wet climates, deteriorate from salt spray in coastal areas, and are not susceptible to destruction by pests and rodents. They can be used in any climate or region and can withstand the severest weather conditions, including fire, wind, and snow. For these reasons, most roof tile manufacturers offer warranties of at least 50 years.
ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY
Both clay and concrete roof tiles are made from naturally occurring materials that do not deplete precious natural resources. They are manufactured without chemical preservatives, and old tiles can be recycled to make new tiles or other products. Moreover, roof tiles are energy efficient: because of the superior thermal capacity of roof tiles and the ventilated air space that their placement on the roof surface creates, a tile roof can lower air conditioning costs in hotter climates and produce more constant temperatures in colder regions, which reduces potential ice accumulation.
COST EFFECTIVE
With superior aesthetics, durability, and longevity, roof tile is a cost-effective alternative to other roofing products. A simple comparison of lifecycle costs makes clear that a tile roof is one of the best deals available today.

Insurance
If you are a homeowner looking for a trustworthy roofing company, there’s a good chance your property has been damaged in a recent storm. Due to the severity of weather, thousands of roofs are replaced every year due to hurricane, hail, and wind damage. These roof replacements are typically covered by most homeowners’ insurance policies. A quality roofing company should know the “ins and outs” of the insurance claims process to best help the members of their community. If your roofing contractor is unable to explain your insurance claim in plain English, you may want to speak to a Dynamic Construction and Roofing representative.
For many of our customers, a hurricane claim is the first, last, and only claim they will ever file on their homeowner’s insurance policy. Having a good understanding of this process allows Dynamic Construction and Roofing’s field representatives to best help homeowners maximize the return on their insurance investments.
If you have recently filed a claim with your insurance company, received an insurance settlement, or would just like to know whether it makes sense to pursue an insurance claim, Dynamic Construction and Roofing and our team of claims knowledgeable staff can help. Contact us today and a representative who is well-versed in the claims process will be able to help you in as little as 24 hours.
How do I process an Insurance Claim?
1. Get a roof inspection from a reputable LOCAL roofing company
Many homeowners call their insurance company first, however, your roof may not have damage. In this case you may have this “claim” count against you anyway. Start with a free, no-obligation roof inspection and get a detailed inspection report.
2. If you have damage, make a claim with your insurance company
With your inspection report in hand you can file your claim on your homeowner’s policy with confidence. Your insurance company will likely ask you if your roof has already been inspected and if you have selected a contractor. Keep in mind, you can work with any roofing company you wish. It is entirely your choice.
3. Have your insurance adjuster and roofer inspect your roof together
When both parties inspect the roof together, they are more likely to be on the same page about what will be covered by insurance. This will save you a lot of back and forth phone calls with your insurance and you will be able to get the project started more quickly.
4. Schedule your roof replacement with your selected roofing company once you have agreed to scope and price with your insurance company
At this point in the process, Dynamic Construction and Roofing customers are assigned a Project Manager who is the homeowner’s point of contact for the duration of the project. Typical roof replacements take 1-2 days, start to finish. You are not required to be home when the work is being done.
5. Your deductible should be your only out-of-pocket expense
Your insurance company will cut you a check and once your roof work is done you will pay that to your roofing contractor. Keep in mind……A reputable company will not require money up front to do your roof or “get you on the schedule”!
